Good times with Empower African Children

On Monday we had the pleasure of hosting three students from Uganda - Moses, Noel and Sharon. They came to Ursuline through our relationship with Empower African Children (EAC), an organization dedicated to the education and empowerment of orphans and vulnerable children (and also where two of our wonderful alums, Agnes Kasule and Rosie Bryan, work) . The students live in Uganda but they were visiting Dallas as part of a short educational exchange with Parish Episcopal School. We asked to host the students for a day because we loved having them with us last year when they visited Dallas for the first time as part of the performing tour of The Spirit of Uganda. Also, we are planning to visit them in Uganda in April as part of our evolving relationship and our hope that we will one day have a sister-school relationship with the soon-to-be-built EAC school.
Our day was busy but so much fun. The students toured UA, met with Sr. Margaret Ann, ate lunch in Haggar and chatted with the journalism class in the morning. In the afternoon, they painted in an art class (where they demonstrated tremendous artistic talent) and later, they joined a PE class for an intense game of dodge ball. In fact, the school day was so much fun that we couldn't say goodbye after school. So, our UA Gagas (Girls Assisting Global Awareness) club met up with the Ugandans again at Gattitown and we had a blast playing games and eating pizza.
We can't wait to see our friends again in Africa!
