Our journey to Africa begins!

Greetings from Kampala, Uganda where we (Maluza Escamilla, Michele Snyder, Rachel Obranovich, Melanie Bolling, Erin Evans and Cecilia Nipp) have arrived safely and happily (and yes, the 1000 Easter eggs arrived well also, no worries). After a long 24 hour journey on KLM (broken up by a very pleasant two hours in Amsterdam and a quick stop-over in Rwanda), we were welcomed to Uganda by the beautiful children of Empower African Children! It was such a lovely surprise to see them waiting for us along with our dear friends, Alexis and Agnes.

Now that we have unpacked, eaten some delicious samosas and organized ourselves a bit, it is almost 5 am and there is a strong thunderstorm roaring outside our temporary home at the ARA (American Recreation Association) - absolutely time to crawl to bed under the mosquito nets! Tomorrow (well, today) we are scheduled to see Kampala and to officially begin our African adventure. We hope you'll follow along!!

  1. So glad to know you all made it safely! Melanie and Erin, you two look pretty snug in those airplane seats. (Erin, Mel needs to tell you about the time we were 2 of the 3 little bears.) :)

I can't wait to read more of your African adventures!
